Overall it was okay, but they mentioned a traffic violation that couldn't be verified. They charged an administrative fee but didn't provide any further information.
Rented the car in Florence and returned it in Rome. Checked everything when taking the car, but the staff in Rome inspected it down to the tiniest detail and blamed us for everything. Italians must be really desperate for money. Been driving for ten years and never encountered such a scam.
Very dissatisfied. I clearly rented an automatic transmission car, but when I got to the store, I was told that only manual ones were available. Furthermore, for the same model, the manual version should have been cheaper, yet the price I had to pay at the store was higher than what was shown on the website. I paid 202.4 euros at the store for 2 days, whereas I had pre-booked for 3 days on the website for 177.73 euros.
The staff at Hertz in Florence were very nice, but there were a lot of people. It took about two hours to pick up the car, so next time I will go earlier.
