I often go on self-driving trips, and this was by far the best experience. Especially the driver who handled the shuttle—he was so communicative, highly experienced, and had a great attitude. He even explained how to use the car and helped connect the Bluetooth during the process. This was the best self-driving experience I've had globally.
The day before picking up the car, they contacted me via WhatsApp to confirm the time and location again, which was very considerate. I mentioned in advance that I wanted to delay the pickup by an hour, and it was no problem.
The pickup time had already passed, but the staff still hadn't shown up, resulting in an excessively long wait. The return location was changed on the day without prior notice. Originally agreed to return the car in the city, and I had paid extra for someone to collect the car at the hotel. On the day of return, they said they were short-staffed and asked me to drive the car back to the store myself.
The car we received was quite old and had many scratches. The interior wasn't very clean either. Additionally, the warning indicator for mechanical faults was on when we received the car, but the staff said it was not an issue and did not resolve it for us. We arrived an hour earlier than our scheduled time and contacted the store, but they only told us to wait at the pickup location. During the wait, we inquired about the waiting time, but they did not respond, leaving us to wait outdoors in 34-degree weather for 45 minutes.
Smooth communication. The car rental company sent reminders about the pickup time via email and messaging apps a day before. Upon arrival at the airport's multilevel parking garage and contacting them, it only took five minutes to get the car. Child seats and ETC cards require cash payment. The ETC card deposit is 30,000 yen, with adjustments made during the return based on usage.
